Toon Prompter

Webtoon vs Manhwa vs Manga

How it works

Manhwa, webtoon, and manga get used interchangeably, but they're not the same thing. If you're trying to make your own comic, knowing the difference helps you pick the right style.

What you get

  • Manga = Japanese comics. Usually black and white. Read right to left, page by page.
  • Manhwa = Korean comics. Usually full color. Increasingly read as webtoons.
  • Webtoon = a FORMAT (vertical scroll), not a country. Most webtoons are Korean manhwa, but the format is now global.

Toon Prompter supports all three. Pick Black & White / Manga for traditional Japanese style pages, Webtoon / Manhwa for Korean style full color scroll, or any of the other styles for something in between.

Toon Prompter is for fans first. If you grew up reading manhwa on the train, sketching characters in your notebook, or rewriting endings in your head, this is the tool we wish we had. Bring the idea, we'll handle the panels.
